Hotel information
Spirit Bear Lodge is set on Klemtu's waterfront in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest, the world's largest intact temperate rainforest.
From the lodge, you can explore the natural habitat of the Kermode (Spirit) Bear. A rare subspecies of the American black bear, Spirit Bears are only found living in Central and North Coast regions of British Columbia.
In partnership with environmental groups and the British Columbia Government, the Kitasso Xai'xais First Nation created the world's only Kitasoo Spirit Bear Conservancy, where unique wildlife tours in search of the rare and beautiful Spirit Bear are conducted by local Kitasoo guides. Spirit Bear Lodge is an ecotourism venture and operated by the Kitasoo/Xai'xais First Nation. This modern lodge offers spacious rooms with King Size bed and takes advantage of the rainforest and ocean views. 'The Great Room' at Spirit Bear Lodge offers an intimate central meeting space with comfy sofas, two large solid cedar dining tables and 20-foot high windows with dramatic views of the ocean, you may even see orcas, dolphins and sea lions pass by.
The lodge offers tours of 4, 5, 6 and 7-day duration stays and include flights from Vancouver to Bella Bella and water taxi transfers to the lodge. Small groups travel by motorboat to explore Princess Royal Island and the temperate rainforests of the Kitasoo Spirit Bear Conservancy. Each tour will go out in search of the world's only white coloured black bear, the Spirit Bear, as well as grizzly bears, black bears and wolves. While out on the water you may also encounter eagles, orcas, white-sided dolphins, sea lions and humpback whales.
