Covering more than 50,000 square kilometres, the Selous National Park is over three times the size of the Serengeti. Within its broad borders the park is home to a plentiful range of habitats; from shimmering lakes, natural hot springs and tangled acacia woodland to riverine forest and an enormous expanse of open grassland.
The reserve’s diverse environments mean a wide range of wildlife can be found here; on Selous National Park holidays you’re likely to spot lions, leopards, roan antelopes and kudus. Between the Selous and neighbouring Ruaha National Park you’ll find the continent’s largest herds of buffalo, elephant and hippo, and huge numbers of crocodiles. Lucky spotters may even encounter the endangered African hunting dog.
