Full accommodation information

Satri House is a beautifully restored royal villa in Luang Prabang that dates back over a hundred years to the early 1900's when it served as a hideaway for the young Prince Souphanouvong of Laos.

Today, the gleaming white walls and tiled roofs hark back to a bygone era, while modern additions of a spa, swimming pools and guestrooms ensure a thoroughly up-to-date experience for visitors to this sacred city.

The owner of Satri House took great care in preserving the heritage of this special estate, extending the buildings with respect to the original structures. This passion and dedication have played a significant part in the authentic design of Satri House, where dark hardwood floors and furniture coexists with white walls and a splash of a jewel hue here or there too. Many pieces of art and antiques echo local culture, such as the Buddhist figurines and sepia photography splayed on the walls, to enhance a rather special sense of place that reverberates throughout the entire property.

While away the days seeking out shade beneath a palm tree or tucked-away cabana in the picturesque gardens, peruse books on display in the library and tuck into lip-smacking Laotian cuisine. Then, when you’re ready, the highlights of Luang Prabang are never far from reach.

Expect to be captivated by the guestrooms at this Luang Prabang haven, whether staying in one of the Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites or Satri House Suites – numbering 31 in total. They feel authentic with dark hardwood floors, voile-draped windows and regal four-poster beds, yet also individual thanks to hand-picked antiques and objets d’art, such as Buddha figurines. The rooms are not only a delight to look at, but also comfortable to stay in thanks to a range of amenities that includes a rain shower, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Should you need one, a flat-screen TV can be provided on request.

Deluxe Room

Deluxe Room

The Deluxe Room flaunts 35sq m of space and can be found in the garden buildings, complete with a balcony or terrace, minibar, shower, bathrobes and slippers. You can also choose from a four-poster king-size bed or a twin setup in the Deluxe Room.
Junior Suite

Junior Suite

Upgrade to a Junior Suite for a larger floorplan (43sq m) and a bathtub in addition to the walk-in shower, all found in the garden buildings. Enjoy the same amenities as the Deluxe Room, apart from the four-poster bed – though you still have a choice between king-size or twin.
Satri House Suite

Satri House Suite

There are only three Satri House Suites, all found in the original UNESCO-labelled building, so if you’re looking for 55sq m of subtle local style, a living room, private terrace and a tub in the bathroom too, be sure to reserve one of these exquisite abodes.

The vibrant green gardens make for a pretty backdrop as you lounge on a sunbed during the day, breaking every now and then to plunge into one of two serene swimming pools. There’s then an onsite spa and steam room for a spot of pampering, as well as an ornate library where you can sit with a book amid vermilion red walls, tiled floors and dark leather sofas – a handsome hideaway indeed.

Satri House Restaurant

Satri House Restaurant

A relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere can be relished alongside a kaleidoscope of flavours and cuisines at the hotel’s restaurant, where you opt to dine indoors or out on the veranda depending on your mood, and the time of year! Breakfast is a medley of Asian and continental dishes – from pancakes to noodle soup – and there’s then an all-day dining menu comprising mostly European staples and kids’ food. Come evening, there’s irresistible Laotian fare to indulge in, such as typical Mok Paa (steamed Mekong fish in banana leaf), shrimp with coconut soup, and much more.

Satri Bar

Satri Bar

A stone’s throw from the swimming pool, the Satri Bar concocts all manner of libations from 11am to 11pm daily.

Sail along the Mekong River at sunset aboard Satri House’s very own cruise boat, which can also be chartered for larger groups. Or, swap the water for solid ground and go cycling on the hotel’s bikes to explore the region, awash with beautiful buildings and Buddhist temples. Experiencing the almsgiving ritual is a real highlight of visiting Luang Prabang, so be sure to set your alarm early and participate in this sacred tradition as the monks receive food donations from locals.
