Like a princely private home studded on lush green hills, enveloped by enough foliage to feel secluded though not too much to obscure the view, Rosewood Luang Prabang hotel is boutique Laos at its atmospheric finest.

Hotel information
With just 23 individually adorned guestrooms, enchanting valley views and easy access to the historic wonders of Luang Prabang, the five-star Bill Bensley designed Rosewood Luang Prabang hotel is among the most memorable, boutique places to stay in Laos.
The first thing to note about this luxury Luang Prabang property is its first-rate location, just a few minutes from the area’s UNESCO-listed highlights, temples and markets, yet far enough away to feel romantically secluded on the hillside. From boat trips to cultural classes, kids’ activities to temple tours, the Rosewood could not be better placed. You’ll also be continually treated to the sound of trickling water while here, courtesy of a river and mini-waterfall that dissect the gardens, something that only adds to the ambience when admiring those picture-postcard views from the pool.
The suites, villas and safari-style tents at Rosewood Luang Prabang all go on to feel just as exclusive, with each adopting its own décor scheme and location around the hotel grounds. This results in a range of views outside as well as themes and styles within, some coming with huge verandas, a private pool, or both. True to its design hotel credentials, the interior of both the guestrooms and dining spaces are also about as stylish as they come; faux-antique furnishings meeting French colonial architecture, Laotian artworks and an oriental finish to the finer detail. Somehow, the Rosewood Luang Prabang has achieved all this while still feeling thoroughly modern, fresh and relevant – the sign of a top boutique resort.
Visiting the small though deluxe onsite Sense Spa is as good as essential during your stay at Rosewood Luang Prabang. Glass-bottom treatment rooms (overlooking the foliage below) boast a menu of ancient remedies and therapies here, inspired by local traditions and forest-foraged ingredients alike. Just about everything served at the Great House Restaurant is also Laotian in origin, both the recipe combinations and source of the food itself, whipped up into fully contemporary fine dining that’s always seasonal, depending on exactly what is growing nearby throughout the year.
Room Options
The 23 rooms, suites, villas and tents at Rosewood Luang Prabang all offer something different, from their view to in-room luxuries and size, though all are individually designed so exclusivity is always part of the package no matter which you choose. The décor scheme is vintage-chic and locally-inspired throughout with antique telephones, old-world maps and ornate four-poster beds among the various incarnations of Bill Bensley’s in-room vision. Mod-cons and comforts are decidedly more contemporary however, with Wi-Fi, espresso machines, standalone bathtubs and a balcony or veranda all coming as standard.

Facilities/Amenities
Rosewood Luang Prabang’s onsite facilities centre around its gardens, outdoor infinity pool and spa. Pull up a sunbed and simply enjoy the surrounding valley views from either the sun patio or pool, perhaps popping into Sense Spa for a traditional therapy in one of their treatment tents. Here they proudly specialise in cleansing and ancient healing remedies, often using ingredients taken straight from the forest itself – a nice addition to the herbal massage menu, skin care and beauty salon services also on offer.
Restaurants & Bars
The Great House Restaurant
From the décor to the seasonal, regional produce that fills the menu, The Great House is a proudly Laotion restaurant where homemade specialities, traditional flavour fusions and local ingredients – some grown onsite – are given a fine dining twist. Great gastronomy is part of the culture here at the Rosewood Luang Prabang, enhanced by beautiful countryside views to be enjoyed while you dine.
