1. Basil’s Bar Mustique
Welcome to the legendary Basil’s Bar in Mustique, a favourite of everyone from royalty like Princess Margaret to fashion royalty like Kate Moss.
The self-described “landmark destination for cocktails” has a long history of welcoming everyone from fisherman to members of the British Royal Family, all of whom congregate to sip cocktails and mingle on the wooden jetty as the yachts glide past and the sun sets over Britannia Bay.

Must try: Hurricane David, a house cocktail that blends the rum-soaked flavours of the Caribbean with vodka and Kahlua. Upon its creation, the Hurricane David quickly found its way onto plenty of ‘top cocktails of the summer’ lists.
2. Sugar Reef Cafe
The adults-only Sugar Reef Cafe has a local ethos, and only serves light, fresh dishes sourced locally.
Coconut milk is used in place of dairy, fruit and vegetables come from the cafe’s own garden, and fish and meat are sourced from local fishermen and farmers on Bequia island itself. Healthy, sustainable and full of life, the food at Sugar Reef Cafe will leave you feeling glowing.
If you’re staying at The Liming, you’ll be just a few minute’s drive from enjoying it. You’ll also be able to enjoy the hotel’s superb overwater restaurant terrace.

Must try: We think the lobster tail soup, made with fresh coconut milk and veg from the garden, is the perfect choice to taste local cuisine. Follow it with the paprika fish, served with white wine sauce, sauteed spinach and grilled pumpkin.
3. Veejays Bar and Restaurant
Busy, bustling Veejays is a Kingstown institution that’s perfect if you want a no-fuss lunchtime buffet restaurant in St Vincent.
Load your plate high with traditional Caribbean fare, and then head up to the terrace to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. Our team recommends enjoying an after-lunch drink beside the bar in the outdoor courtyard – the perfect way to begin the afternoon.
Location: Lower Bay Street, Kingstown, St Vincent
Opening times: 9am – 10pm (closed Sundays)
Must try: The rotis here are regularly called the best on the island, and make for a perfect light lunch.
4. Wallilabou Anchorage
This is the perfect place for making the most of St Vincent’s exquisite coastal views. A haven for yachts, Wallilabou Anchorage is found at Wallilabou Bay on the west coast of St Vincent.
Local food and drinks are served below a small, 12-room hotel, and all the boating facilities you’ll need are available. This is a real escape from the every day: moor your boat, hop back onto dry land, and settle in to watch the waves lapping the shore with a rum punch in hand. Utterly blissful.
Travel Tip
Fans of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films might recognise this place. Wallilabou Anchorage was the setting for the first instalment of the Disney franchise. The set was built around the restaurant and hotel, and the film’s stars stayed in the rooms in between shoots.

Must try: There’s no regular menu available, but as all fish is caught just metres away we’d recommend asking what’s the fresh catch of the day is!
5. Flowt Beach Bar
Serving up a huge selection of bar snacks and small dishes (think shrimp skewers, bratwurst, beef burgers, samosas, wedges and wings, amongst lots of others) alongside an extensive drinks list, Flowt is a great place for a relaxed evening if you’re near the southern tip of St Vincent.
Sitting right on the beach, Flowt is the chilled-out sister of the nearby Flow Wine Bar and Kitchen, where you’ll find a more formal menu. Pop in either before or after dinner for a cocktail on the decking or make Flowt your venue of choice for a full, relaxed evening.
Location: Ratho Mill, Blue Lagoon Hotel and Marina, Windward Highway, St Vincent
Opening times: 2pm – 10pm; closes at midnight on Fridays and opens at noon on Saturdays
Must try: Local dishes including the jerk-rubbed pork and grilled conch come highly recommended by those in the know.
6. Young Island Resort Restaurant
Tranquil, relaxing, romantic… found just off the main island of St Vincent in the Young Island Resort, there’s some incredibly special and extremely luxurious about this hotel restaurant.
White tablecloths, tropical flowers, thatched-roof huts, open-air dining, a beach-front location and complete ambience conspire to make your lunch or dinner here a truly memorable one.
The menu is fresh and local, combining Caribbean and continental cuisine, with a wide variety of meat and freshly caught fish available.
Location: Young Island Resort, Arnos Vale, Young Island
Opening times: 7 am – 10 pm (closed between service)
Must try: The restaurant’s freshly baked bread comes in six flavours (banana, coconut, cinnamon, wheat, raisin and white) and guests rarely leave without at least one loaf in hand.
7. Jack’s Beach Bar
Back to beautiful Bequia, where the newly refurbished Jack’s Beach Bar serves cocktails and seafood on the utterly pristine Princess Margaret Beach.
As white boats bob on the nearby water, guests at Jack’s can sip a Gibbon’s Rum Punch (named after the beach’s previous moniker) and choose from a modern menu that includes grilled fish burgers, jerk pork and plantain, and fried chicken with various sauces.
If you’re staying at Bequia Beach Hotel, you’ll be pleased to hear it’s just a three-minute drive down the road – there’s even a complimentary shuttle to take you there.
Location: Princess Margaret Beach, Bequia
Opening times: 11am – 11pm
Must try: The fish is caught literally metres away from your plate, so we have to recommend the catch of the day – whatever it might be when you arrive.
8. Sparrow’s Beach Bar
Sparrow’s Beach Bar is a relatively new addition to Union Island, and has been called one of the area’s top restaurants. Dotted with day beds for whilst the sun is up, this place transforms from a casual, beach-side venue during the day to a top-quality seafood restaurant at night.
Order meals directly to your sun-lounger, and in the evening continue to embrace this decadence and indulge in one of the sumptuous à la carte menu choices for an exceptional gourmet experience.
Location: Big Sand Beach, Clifton, Union Island
Opening times: 9am – 9pm
Must try: The house smoked Mahi Mahi is delicious, though you can’t go wrong with any of the lobster or locally caught seafood.
9. The Snack Shack
Found on Union Island, The Snack Shack is a great place to grab a casual panini or a freshly squeezed fruit juice. Made from recycled items found on the island itself, there’s a great ambience throughout the Snack Shack too: think wooden beams and lots of light to reflect its environmental theme.
Street parties take place every Saturday evening if you’re in the vicinity and in the mood for a dance.
Location: Main Street, Clifton, Union Island
Opening times:8 am-midnight
Must try: Order yourself a quesadilla or two and choose one of the tables outside for al fresco dining with a side of fascinating people watching.
10. Cobblestone Inn
A well-loved local spot, the Cobblestone Inn has been compared to a traditional English pub, albeit one that serves Caribbean food and has a sunny rooftop bar (something generally much more useful in the warmer climes of the Caribbean!).
Housed in a former sugar warehouse that was built in 1814, the atmosphere is just one of the things that makes the Cobblestone Inn special. Need evidence? The experts at Fodor’s have called it “perhaps the most pleasant, the breeziest, and the most satisfying breakfast and lunch spot in downtown Kingstown”. Sound perfect? We think so.
