Ellerman House occupies an elevated position on the slopes of Lion's Head about Bantry Bay and overlooking Cape Town's striking coastline, the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island. Once the summer residence of shipping magnate Sir John Ellerman and his wife Lady Esther, this gracious Cape Edwardian mansion with sumptuously appointed interiors, shaded veranda’s and tiered gardens was created for enjoyment of the finer things in life. Ellerman House boasts one of the finest private art collections in South Africa, being a home rather than a hotel means all of the rooms are different in size, shape and decor.

An ultra modern addition to Ellerman House is The Ellerman Villa & Spa. Standing stylishly alongside the historic home with its dazzling ocean vistas. The Ellerman Villa is a 'smart' house but the technology is not overwhelming and has been designed for ease of use. The architecture is reminiscent of the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, the great American architect. Its uncompromising angles, oblique outlooks and sheer glass allow maximum exposure the sea below and beyond. Comprising a spa on the ground floor, a living area on the second, open plan and flows outdoors to the endless horizon. With three bedrooms on the third and a further two spa rooms, the Ellerman Villa provides a home away from home for the modern traveller comfortable in a striking minimalist environment.

Classic House Room

This room is elegantly decorated in soft greens and caramels with beech wood cabinets and faux leather ottomans to create a contemporary feel. Located at the rear of the house and has no sea view. Elegantly decorated in olive tones with a bathroom finished in grey and salmon marble, it offers complete tranquillity and is the best value room

Deluxe Spa Rooms: Ocean view with deck

Located adjacent to the Ellerman Spa these rooms enjoy sliding doors which open up to a wonderful deck area with a stunning ocean view. From the deck relax on the loungers, sip a drink and take in the Cape Coastline.

Superior House Room: Ocean view

Is the bijou room with blue and white decor and a salmon cream marble bathroom. Its big bay window provides an excellent view of the rocky coast below. Guests love to sip coffee whilst gazing out of the large bay windows onto the spectacular coastline below.

Deluxe House Rooms: Ocean view with terrace

Generously proportioned sea-facing rooms that opens out through two sets of double doors onto a large private terrace. A blend of ocean colours, textured finishes, and contemporary touches saturate the rooms. Antique chairs complement sleek marble-topped TV consoles - a graceful pairing of past and present.

Ellerman Villa

Aqua Room - The main bedroom with a king size bed facing the sea. Lilac Room - Also dominated by a king size bed and has a striking Balinese style bathroom. The Yellow Room - Looks on to the Twelve Apostles Mountains and has two single beds. A private deck overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

The 2 Ellerman House Suites offer truly elegant accommodation, extremely spacious with ocean views, a separate lounge, dining area and a private wrap around balcony accessible via French doors.
