The multi-award-winning Carneros Resort & Spa is refreshingly modern in its construction and design, entirely enveloped by thriving grapevines though also offers a handful of adult-only areas such as their hilltop infinity pool and Jacuzzi; every bit the sophisticated Napa wine lodge.

The décor here is unashamedly contemporary, as what could be traditional tin-roofed barns at first glance are in fact painted bright white, full of fashionable furnishings, hardwood or slate tiled flooring and polished chrome fixtures throughout.

Facilities

It all adds up to make Carneros Resort & Spa as trendy a Napa Valley vineyard as you’re ever likely to come across, though the appeal doesn’t stop there, as the onsite facilities – before you even get to the wine – are also extensive.

Starting with the spa, there’s a focus on revitalisation here from the therapies on offer to the ambience of the space itself, though privacy too including treatment areas and a private outdoor Jacuzzi for couples, a steam room, sauna and intimate relaxation deck too. Next door to the spa is a well-equipped gym where you can work out alone, request a personal trainer or join a yoga class, and bikes are then available if looking to explore the surrounding countryside on two wheels; highly recommended.

An onsite boutique, complimentary use of the hotel’s luxury Cadillacs, plus butler service for fire lighting and filling the outdoor bathtub in certain cottages are just some of the additional extras here.

Families

Although families are welcome at Carneros Resort & Spa (indeed, children have their own designated splash pool), things are very much geared up towards adults. This is not only the case for the spa or that sumptuous infinity Jacuzzi with views over the valley but the refinement and standard of gastronomy you can expect during your stay, with three fine dining restaurants and a gourmet market of delectable produce available, if packing for a picnic or day out. Each Carnero's eatery has its own setting and menu theme, from the upscale Farm Restaurant which places emphasis on locally sourced produce to create its changeable menu of internationally-inspired haute cuisine, to Boon Fly Café which is decidedly more laidback and a top spot for lunch, with private dining options also available.

This, added to the wine tours and tastings, easy access to numerous neighbouring vineyards and central Napa, rounded off with famously friendly service, makes Carneros Resort & Spa a fantastic wine lodge in Napa.
