Beautifully boutique and atmospheric too, the Ansara Hotel boasts both colonial architecture and the contemporary touches of a modern luxury property near the highlights of central Vientiane, the Mekong River and a neighbouring temple just steps away.

Hotel information
The Ansara is a star among the boutique luxury hotels of Vientiane.
Refined, though not overly lavish, the resort confidently displays a distinct Laotian décor scheme of dark wood, tiled floors and locally inspired furnishing. This fact helps feed into a welcoming, homely atmosphere all the way from that understated interior design to the attentive and helpful staff.
The building itself is typical of the French colonial style that can be seen elsewhere in Laos: tall ceilings, white walls and terracotta tiled roofs centred around an outdoor swimming pool, sundeck and gardens. Ansara’s La Signature Restaurant and Lounge Bar also follow suit, with a Laotian take on French fine dining and a respectable wine list on offer, though with the top restaurants in Vientiane within walking distance of the Ansara Hotel, you’ll have countless options of where to test your taste buds while here.
During your stay at Ansara then, you’ll get not just the property’s heritage, inviting balconied-guestrooms and friendly local staff, but one of the best-placed hotels in Vientiane too. Simply step outside and you’ll be spoilt for choice, with temples at your door in one direction, the Mekong River or main attractions of Vientiane, its museums and bars in the other.
Back on site, al fresco dining terraces – plus the relaxed gardens encompassing a sundeck and swimming pool – each allow for a little time out during the day, perfect if looking to catch your breath at either the beginning or end of your trip to Vientiane. Families are welcome, with interconnecting rooms available if needed, though this is probably a hotel more suited to couples thanks to its intimate, more tranquil atmosphere.
Room Options
Décor wise, the 24 guestrooms and 4 suites at Ansara stay true to the hotel’s wider theme of boutique refinement with no unnecessary clutter or over the top touches. Instead, the most is made of all available space while also making clear nods toward local heritage and tradition in their artworks, ornaments and embroidered cushion covers. Every room comes with a balcony, Wi-Fi, complimentary robes, umbrellas and soft drinks, satellite TV and a bathroom wellness kit, a range of garden or temple views and either a bathtub, rain shower or Jacuzzi, depending on which category you choose.

Facilities/Amenities
Being a slightly smaller resort that stays true to its original colonial architecture, the Ansara Hotel does not boast an exhaustive list of five-star facilities, but the property’s prime Vientiane location and eye-catching design more than make up for this. What you will find is a large central swimming pool surrounded by gardens, a sun patio and loungers, Wi-Fi throughout and a helpful concierge to fill in any blanks or help with directions to their favourite local restaurants!
Restaurants & Bars
La Signature Restaurant
Proudly claiming to be one of the finest eateries in Vientiane, Ansara’s La Signature Restaurant dishes up regional takes on haute French cuisine in its extremely pleasant dining room.; though the al fresco patio is even better on those lovely warm evenings.

Lounge Bar
Ansara’s Lounge Bar is a nicely relaxed space to grab a drink. There’s a handful of sofas and cosy armchairs if settling in for the night, or take your crafted cocktail out into the courtyard if simply starting your evening here, before heading into central Vientiane.
Activities & Entertainment
The Ansara is certainly one of the best-placed luxury Vientiane hotels, with the Mekong River flowing just behind the property and the city’s historical district, the temples, museums, restaurants, the night market and highlights of Vientiane all within walking distance. As well as boat trips and temple visits, the hotel can arrange local cookery classes, bicycle tours or a walk around the nearby orchid gardens if you prefer.
